Donor Bill of Rights

At the WCU Foundation, our relationship with our donors is built on respect and trust.

We adhere to exacting standards of financial integrity and transparency in everything we do. This ensures that current and prospective donors can have full confidence in our organization and that your generous gifts are used appropriately to advance our mission.

To do so we follow the Donor Bill of Rights. These are principles created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits. Endorsed by numerous organizations, we declare our donors have these rights:

To be informed of our mission, of the way we intend to use donated resources, and of our capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
To be informed of the identity of those serving on the Ascensus Foundation’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgement in its stewardship responsibilities.
To have access to our most recent financial statements.
To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of our organization or hired solicitors.
To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.
To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

The WCU Foundation's goal is to provide financial support to help students grow professionally and personally, becoming highly skilled professionals and healthcare leaders. Along the way, we provide a dynamic educational experience that we hope will be memorable and truly enjoyable.

Personal Information you submit through our Sites, such as your name, address and other contact information, may be collected by WCU Foundation for internal marketing and development purposes as well as to respond to your inquiry, complete a transaction for you, or fulfill other forms of customer service. You can choose not to receive marketing from us by "unsubscribing" using the instructions in any marketing email you receive from us.
